Step 2: Two-bucket hand wash. One bucket holds clean soap. The other rinses the dirt out of the mitt. This keeps sand from scratching the clear coat.
Step 3: Iron remover. We spray an iron fallout remover across the paint. It turns bright red or purple as it bonds with tiny iron pieces and pulls them out. It looks a bit dramatic. That is the point.
Step 4: Clay bar pass with lubricant. We mist each panel with clay lubricant, then glide the clay across every inch. Hood. Roof. Trunk. Doors. Fenders. Bumpers. Side mirrors. We test each panel with the baggie trick to confirm it is smooth.
